Chapter The Gospel: The Life of Christ in Surround Sound
The chapter I read was chapter 8, about the life of Christ, written by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. These Gospels are the first four books in the New Testament. They are written by four of Jesus' disciples. These disciples wrote their own depiction of Jesus. Although they all had similar information about Jesus, they wrote their view of what they saw while they were with Him. Matthew wrote about Jesus as the Messiah, Mark wrote about Jesus as a servant, Luke wrote about Jesus being the Son of Man, and John wrote about Jesus being the Son of God. Each Gospel was written the way the authors saw Jesus. But the end of their stories about Him were all the same. Jesus suffered, died, and was buried for our transgressions. Then, in three days, He rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven. This part of the Bible is the "good news" that we, as Christians, learn about when we begin our journey studying the Bible.
The verse that was shown to me when I first accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior was John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (Crossway 2001) ?The first books I told to begin reading were the Gospels in the New Testament. It was then that I realized what Jesus did and, more importantly, what God did by sending His Son down to earth to die on a cross to save a sinner like me.
