  1. How do the reactant molecules of photosynthesis get to the chloroplasts in leaves? Be sure to name the reactants of photosynthesis and the parts of the plant involved in getting those reactants to the chloroplast and the processes used to get the reactants INTO the chloroplast. This answer will mean you have to talk about diffusion, plant parts, properties of water, etc.
  2. The Calvin cycle clearly requires the products of the light reactions, ATP and NADPH. Suppose the converse is not true - that the light reactions do not depend on the Calvin Cycle and that with continual light, could just keep producing ATP and NADPH. Do you agree or disagree, explain. statement ... and then you must explain your answer by describing the light reactions and Calvin Cycle and then defending your answer.
  3. In an experiment, isolated chloroplasts placed in a solution with the appropriate components can carry out ATP synthesis. Predict what would happen to the rate of photosynthesis if a compound is added to the solution that makes the thylakoid membranes freely permeable to hydrogen ions. Describe first how the ATP is normally generated in the light reactions and how that ATP is then used. Then answer the question.
