Assessment Brief
You have been appointed as a new Team Manager in a large sales team for a Personal Computer retailer in Bolton. As part of a wider initiative to improve organisational performance against their competitors, you have been asked to provide a report that provides insight as to how your team can improve performance after consistently underachieving for a sustained period.
The team operates in an extremely competitive sales environment where daily performance is measured closely - in terms of leads generated, sales completed and overall customer satisfaction. Due to the underperformance issues the Company Directors would like to develop a revised approach and strategy based upon the points contained within your report.
The Directors are very keen to see your ideas based upon Two of the following factors:
• Motivation
• Performance Management
• Emotional Intelligence
• Stress
The following sections should be considered as essential content and is provided as a guide for structure of your report:
1. An introduction setting out the content and direction of your report. (150 words)
2. A section that details and explains the mechanics of Team Development and the importance of Team Roles using appropriate academic models / theories. You should compare and contrast at least two models / theories in your analysis. (600 words)
3. Selecttwo of the four listed factors set out above and explain how these support the development of Team Performance, using relevant theory to support your explanation. Where appropriate, you may provide relevant examples of effective team working in operation to support your discussion. (1000 words)
4. A suitable conclusion that clearly summarises the key points made during the report with recommendations for action to the Directors of the Company. (250 words)
5. The report must be appropriately referenced using the Harvard Referencing system.
