Many companies use a quality control technique called acceptance sampling to monitor incoming shipments of parts, raw materials, and so on. In the electronics industry, component parts are commonly shipped from suppliers in large lots. Inspection of a sample of n components can be viewed as the n trials of a binomial experiment. The outcome for each component tested (trial) will be that the component is classified as good or defective. Reynolds Electronics accepts a lot from a particular supplier if the defective components in the lot do not exceed 1%. Suppose a random sample of five items from a recent shipment is tested.
In a simple linear regression analysis of 18 data points the following ANOVA table was found.
Determine the p-value; and at 95% confidence, test the above hypotheses.
If gambler rolls two dice and gets sum of four, he wins $10; and if he gets sum of three, he wins $25. Cost to play game is $5. What is expectation of this game?
Perform Repeated Measures ANOVA also calculate PRE. An educational study uses a simple pre-post design to assess the value of a computer tutor for solving inequalities.
Describe the difference between sample and a sampling distribution. Your reply must be in complete sentences and you may use sketches to help you.
At 95% confidence, test to determine if more than 21% of the population will like the new soft drink.
A small New England college has a total of 400 students. The Math SAT is required for admission, and the mean score of all 400 students is 620. The population standard deviation is found to be 60. The formula for a 95% confidence interval yields th..
Mean threshold values and standard deviations for the three groups are given below. Normal probability plots showed the three populations were well approximated by the Normal distribution.
Indicate your hypotheses, decision rule, statistical decision and management conclusion using the critical value and then find the p-value and state your decision rule, statistical decision and management conclusion using this method.
The hypothesis is to be tested at the 5% level of significance. The critical value from the table equals:
A test of hypothesis is conducted at the .05 level of significance to test either or not the population correlation is zero.
Explain your answer to someone who is familiar with the t test for a single sample, but not with the t test for independent means.
