Technical - The episode is well-recorded & demonstrates technical competence. The levels are balanced. There are no plosives (mic pops). There is no distortion. There is no inappropriate or unintentional background noise. The piece is well mixed; the volume & presence of individual audio elements form a cohesive sonic work. The master [overall] volume is optimised.
Editing - The piece demonstrates audio editing competency. The cuts are unobtrusive, accurate [none are clipped or overextended), and the editing contributes to or enhances the pace and/or rhythm of the narrative and composition. The clips included suit the overall concept & composition.
Concept - The podcast presents a unique, original, or otherwise innovative approach to the topic, idea, style, angle, or story chosen. This approach is expressed & deployed competently for the podcast format.
Structure - The piece flows from point-to-point clearly and appropriately. The piece is easy to understand, compelling, and engaging. The way the episode is formatted satiates the audience, while simultaneously providing motivation to listen to further episodes in the series.
Overall Impact - The quality of the episode as a finished project. A combination of the above criteria work to construct a sophisticated, satisfying, and entertaining audio piece for the intended audience.
