Question1

A solid cylinder of mass 8.9 kg and radius 32 cm is yoked to a spring as shown. To be precise, axle of the cylinder is attached to a horizontal spring of force constant 1335 N/m.

The cylinder rolls back and forth on a horizontal base without slipping. For ease, assume that the spring, the axle and the yoke that connects them have negligible masses compared to the cylinder itself. What is an angular frequency of the cylinder rolling back and forth around equilibrium position? Answer in units of s 1.

Question2

A rocket set to land on mars is accelerating straight up from the earth's surface. At 1.15s after liftoff, rocket clears the top of its launch platform, 63m above the ground. After an additional 4.75s it is 1.00km above the ground. Compute magnitude of the average velocity of the rocket for?

Question3

A school yard teeter totter with a total length of 4.8 m and mass of 36 kg is pivoted at its center. A 15 kg child sits on one end of the teeter totter.

(a) Where should a parent push with a force of 185 N in order to hold teeter totter level?

(b) Where should the parent push with a force of 363 N to keep teeter totter level?
