Curran told Watts that it was too late, since the order had already been mailed to the offices of the Bright Lighting Company. Watts replied that as far as he was concerned, "the deal is off." On July 10 Bright Lighting Company wrote to Watts acknowledging receipt of his order the equipment was shipped to Watts on July 30, but Watts refused to accept delivery.
