Question: The mind-body dualism, in philosophy, maintains that the mind and the brain are two distinct categories and one cannot be explained in terms of the other: Mental phenomena are not physical and cannot be explained in physical terms. Materialism philosophy argues that only matter exists and all phenomena, even mental phenomena, are the result of interactions of matter. Thus, the mind is just the working of the physical brain. Many in the artificial intelligence community support the materialism philosophy.
Would you agree with the materialism philosophy? State your reason.
Extending this argument, is it possible for artificial intelligence to surpass human intelligence? Substantiate your position with references, length around 500 words.
