Assignment:

For this project you will use Microsoft Windows 7 or 10 etc and Mint Linux. You will create a PowerPoint complete with screen shots that creates a detailed step-by-step "How-to" document for the following objectives:
1. Configuring Network Interface in Windows: Set an IP address, default gateway, and subnet mask using a Microsoft client.
2. Configuring Network Interface in Linux: Set an IP address, default gateway, and subnet mask using a Linux client.
3. Create Windows User Account: Create a user account using a Microsoft client.
4. Create Group: For the user account created in question 3, add the user account to a group named MGAUsers and set a password
5. Create Linux User Account: Create a user account from the command line using a Linux client.
6. Create Group: For the user account created in question 5, add the user account to a group named mgausers and set a password
7. Share a Folder: Share a folder containing a document with text detailing a knock-knock joke using a Microsoft client
8. Share Folder Permissions: Demonstrate setting share folder permissions in Windows and explain where they apply
9. Understanding the PING command: Ping 127.0.0.1, Ping a neighbor on the same local network, and Ping your default gateway. What does the success or failure of each activity indicate?
10. Linux "hosts" File: Find the file /etc/hosts (in Linux) or C:\Windows\Sytem 32\drivers\etc\hosts (in Windows) and demonstrate what can be accomplished editing this file
11. Installing Drivers In Windows: Demonstrate how to install a driver
12. Computer Information: Demonstrate how to find information about the computer on a Windows client (within the OS)
13. Computer Information: Demonstrate how to find information about the computer on a Linux client
14. Creating, Moving, and Copying Files in Widows: Demonstrate creating, moving, and copying files from the Windows command line
15. Creating, Moving, and Copying Files in Linux: Demonstrate creating, moving, and copying files from the Linux command line
16. NTFS Permissions: Demonstrate setting NTFS permissions in Windows and indicate where they apply
17. Linux File Permissions: Demonstrate setting file permissions in Linux using octal or symbolic notation
18. Using Re-direction: Demonstrate how to store command line output in a text file using re-direction (Windows or Linux)
19. Patch Cable: Explain how to build a 568a Ethernet patch cable
20. Query a DNS Server: Query a DNS server from the command line of Windows and Linux. Be sure that you are providing your commands and results to support your work
