As described above, Nissan will be producing the NV200 and the eNV200 in Barcelona, Spain. At first blush, the two models look very similar and during production, employees will be sharing workstations and labour hours. However, the production version of the e-NV200 contains 30% new components as compared to the NV200. For simplicity, subdivide the tasks to manufacture both vans into two tasks only: general assembly (80 hours per day available) and engine installation (100 hours per day available). Assume that each e-NV200 yields a profit of $3000, requires 4 hours for general assembly and 14 hours for engine installation. Each NV200 yields a profit of $7000, requires 10 hours of general assembly and 8 hours for engine installation. Nissan wants to determine the quantity of each van to produce in order to maximize profit. Develop a linear programming model for this Nissan production problem. Solve this model using graphical analysis.
