• Avedis Donabedian's foundational work in formalizing an approach to evaluating the quality of healthcare has three types of quality measures. Discuss each type, including how it is defined. Also give examples of each.
• Methods and tools for managing healthcare quality are introduced of the textbook. Discuss the steps that are common to all approaches that can help healthcare workers achieve the improved quality goals of better care and service to patients.
• Consider the contributions of Shewhart, Deming, and Codman in establishing ideas and approaches that set the stage for today's quality improvement efforts. Talk about each pioneer's key contributions to the field.
