It is very imperative that people take the necessary steps to make sure that they are up-to-date on training and skills. In order to advance at work, qualify for pay raises or incentives and take promotions, you must be able to provide certain skills at work. If you can't produce certificates or show proof that your can operate machinery or computers, chances are you won't qualify for that job. Many people are unemployed because they don't possess the skills needed to maintain the job. Also, people who have degrees for specific positions are considered a better choice when it comes to someone who doesn't have a degree. In Louisiana, we have many people who are plant operators. If they didn't go to college and obtain their associates degree in process technology, they won't qualify for that specific job.

Our society is rapidly becoming more and more technologically advanced and it is leading to skills in the workforce having to change or evolve. For example, I work in corrections and we are constantly having to keep our trainings and skill sets up-to-date. Every year we have to go to our trainings and always have proof that we completed it. Many things are changing with the ways that inmates are handled and the state wants to be sure that the employees have a good understanding of that so that they may keep their jobs. If people step out of line even in the slightest, they are fired. This goes for many different industries such as medical personnel, teachers, and even personal trainers. It is very important that individuals of these industries keep their skill sets up-to-date so that they may do their job well, and earn their money. I know that if I skip any trainings or slack off on what is expected of me, my employer would have no problem letting me file for unemployment.
