Learning outcome 1: Critically analyse literature related to contemporary issues in project management;
Learning outcome 2: Critically appraise the role of project manager in implementing successful IT projects and the social, ethical and legal responsibilities of a successful project manager;
Learning outcome 3: Create appropriate project management documentations such as business case, project charter, and Gantt chart and in doing so to demonstrate project management skills;
Learning outcome 4: Critically appraise project management approaches and methodologies.
Task-1: Prepare a business case for your selected project. Pay particular attention to the following areas in your project business case:
a) Strategic casefor the project with a justification for undertaking the project.
b) An evaluation of cost/benefits and risks of alternative options while providing a rationale for the selected options.
c) A summary of the benefits (both tangible and non-tangible) that will arise from the completed project and any unavoidable drawbacks.
Task-2: Prepare a project charter and based on this, design a WBS (Work Breakdown Structure). You also need to develop a critical path for the work breakdown structure.
Task-3: Evaluate the role of a project manager in the context of their ethical, social and legal responsibilities during a project. Critically evaluatethe project manager performed and give your judgment about the quality of the project manager's work as well as their limitations.
Task-4: Critically summarise cost benefit analysis and quality assurance process in project management. How are the two aspects handled during the lifecycle of a project?
