Q. A eukaryotic gene has "sticky ends" produced by the restriction endonuclease EcoRI. The gene is added to the mixture containing EcoRI and a bacterial plasmid that carries two genes conferring resistance to ampicillin and tetracycline. The plasmid has one recognition site for EcoRI located in tetracycline resistance gene. This mixture is incubated for numerous hours, exposed to DNA ligase, and after that added to bacteria growing in nutrient broth. The bacteria are allowed to grow overnight and are streaked on a plate using the technique that produces isolated colonies that are clones of the original. Samples of these colonies are then grown in four different media: nutrient broth plus ampicillin, nutrient broth plus tetracycline, nutrient broth plus ampicillin and tetracycline, and nutrient broth without antibiotics.
Bacteria containing a plasmid into which the eukaryotic gene has integrated will grow in what?
In a single neuron, amplitude of an action potential does not depend on the strength of the stimulus. However, in your experiment, as you increased stimulus strength the amplitude of the response changed.

A recessive mutant allele, black, causes a very dark body in drosophila when homozygous. The normal wild-type is described as gray. What F1 phenotypic ratio is predicted when a black female is crossed to a gray male whose father was black?
Mutants in msh6 have a high mutation rate, not surprising for a protein involved in repair. Double mutants of dbp2 and msh6 show a HUGE increase in mutation rate, far higher than either single mutant.
The global community is plagued by increasing incidence of lung cancer, colorectal cancer, breast and pancreatic cancers, prostate cancer, non Hodgkin lymphoma, liver, ovarian and esophageal cancers.
Humans oxidize glucose in the presence of oxygen. For each mole of glucose oxidized, about 688 kcal of energy is release. This is true whether the mole of glucose is oxidized in human cells or burned in the air.
