1. I think most of you would agree (and if not, please reply with why you disagree), American culture values independence and hark work. Other cultures put more value on group dependence and collective effort. Do you all think that migrants to America who come to America by themselves have a hard time here because they are completely on their own?

2. Pyramids are useful for sort of predicting the future in terms of birth rates, life expectancies, and fertility trends and rates. In the United States it seems people are waiting longer to have children and are having less. I am sure you have all heard the term 'boomer' these days. To young people it is assigned to anyone perceived as 'old' but comes from the term 'baby boomer'. Technically, a baby boomer was born just after WWII. What was going on in the economy, culture, etc., that promoted this 'baby boom' and how have things changed?

3. One thing from the population pyramid that did stick out to me was that the Females residing in South Korea tend live a longer life that the males. While taking a look over at the United States Pyramid I noticed that both males and females live life longer than those residing in South Korea and we also have a larger population than South Korea. what you guys think? any idea?
