It is highly desirable to make benzene from ethane (from shale gas) in a continious vapor-phase reaction:
3C2H6 --> C6H6 + 6H2
Pure ethane at 400 degrees C is fed to the reactor, which operates isothermally at 100% ethane conversion.
a.) draw and label a flowchart for 1,000 mol/s of ethane as a basis.
b.) For elements [ C(s), H2(g) ] at 25 degrees C as references, fill in an inlet-outlet enthalpy table.
c.) Calculate the required heat transfer to or from the reactor (state which it is) in kJ.
d.) Calculate the heat of this reaction at 400 degrees C and 1 atm.
