Public Speaking Class - Composing an Introduction
EXAMPLES ARE ATTACHED BELOW.PLEASE FOLLOW IT NOT PLAGERISM.
Once you have completed the readings, practice writing an introduction that includes all required elements. I will provide you with a topic, purpose statement, thesis statement, and main points. You will write the introduction. Use this opportunity to get creative with your attention grabber. Establish your credibility (make something up if you want to-for this assignment, it's ok!). Let the audience know how your topic relates to them. Why should they care? Let the audience know exactly what it is that you are going to tell them. What will your main points be? (Easy, since I've already given them to you : ) Make sure your thesis statement makes an appearance in your intro. If your thesis statement DOES include your main points, it will typically be the last sentence in the intro. If it DOES NOT include your main points, you will need to go on to preview those main points immediately after the thesis statement.
