This client was admitted to the inpatient psychiatric unit with a diagnosis of Major Depression. The client voluntarily presented to the hospital reporting that they have felt increasingly depressed and an inability to concentrate at work. The client fears losing their job if they do not get their depression under control. The started treatment with fluoxetine (Prozac) 20 mg every morning. The client has now taken 3 doses of this medication. The client appears disheveled, with poor grooming and low energy. o The nursing student is responsible for completing an initial nursing assessment, including a suicide assessment. Additionally, the student will utilize therapeutic communication techniques to establish a safety plan with the client.
