Question

The parent of your 22-year-old patient calls the psychiatric unit inquiring about their child's admission. What would be your MOST appropriate response? I am sorry but due to privacy laws I cannot release any information about your child's condition. You will have to come to the facility to get an update as I cannot verify your identity over the phone. Your child is in stable condition at the moment and that is all I can tell you. Your child is being assessed by the physician so please call back in 30 minutes and we will have an update for you.
