Reflection Assignment - Let's be honest; the last few weeks have been unreal. We find ourselves living in a new state of reality that only top doctors and creative science fiction writers could have predicted. Our everyday lives have been turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic and we don't yet know when things will return to any semblance of "normal." Governments and prominent health authorities around the world are advising everyone to stay home and self-quarantine, especially if we have been feeling ill. To most of us, this is a nobrainer. However, children (and some elderly people) seem to particularly struggle with this command. Imagine that you are the parent of a boy named Billy. Billy has been home from school for two weeks and is itching to leave the house. Every morning for the past few days, he has woken you up from your hard-fought slumber to ask, "Can I go see Suzie TODAY?
Want to play Animal Crossing with her. It's so UNFAIR!" You've tried to explain to Billy a thousand times why he needs to stay home and you are at your wit's end. Suddenly, you remember that your PSYC335 instructor talked about how children go through different levels and stages of moral development and that, at each stage, they base their moral decisions on qualitatively different types of reasoning.
