Case: Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne are two of America's most-beloved authors. Both would be described as Romantic writers, and both have captured the imagination of generations of Americans. Also, the writings for both have ended up as fodder for the film industry. This week's forum requires some research into such videos. Find a film/movie/video version of a literary work by either author. You may choose one of our assigned readings or another from our course books. Read the original literary work and watch the film/movie/video version of the piece. You may not use the same "film/movie/video version" as a class member, nor may you use my sample found below from The Simpsons. Thus, look for your sample early on in the week to ensure optimum opportunity here.

Then do the following for this forum:

Subject line noting the literary piece and author and the "new version" source.

Provide us with information on the movie/video/film clip that is sufficient enough that we might find it if we are interested. Note: Youtube links are great resources here - especially for short pieces - as we can access them and create our own interpretations.

Tell your class members three specific ways that the original (piece of literature) is better than the second version. If the opposite is true, explain (again with three specific ways).

Comment on at least two class members' postings by focusing in on at least one point that the class member posted.
