Simulation Based Assessment Task:

You are required to provide nursing care to a person admitted in your clinical setting for rehabilitation following a head injury resulting in quadriparesis. The person suffers from significant muscular weakness affecting all extremities. The person is from a Chinese background and has mild issues with memory and comprehension. The next of kin is visiting the person now.

You are required to perform the following activities:
• Assist the person with a passive range of motion exercises
• Encourage the person to contribute to their own independence and mobility
• Provide pressure area care
• Appropriately position the person
• You must follow the care plan provided below
• Confirm with the person and next of kin that the nursing care planned and provided reflects the person's needs
• Complete the progress notes template provided in the client's folder in the simulated nursing environment
• Ensure a safe environment is provided to the person, promoting physical comfort, before you leave the room.

You could demonstrate your skills on the nursing manikin. Your assessor will provide voice over for the manikin.
