International project managers understand that what works at home may not work in foreign countries. Managers cannot impose practices from their home country or host-country nationals without questioning how they are applied to new environments.  Although there may be some similarities, it is a fact that good management practices vary across nations and cultures.  

To ensure best practices, project managers needs to be aware of differences in the host country's environment from their own domestic country to avoid dangers and obstacles of global projects.  

You are required to research a country (that is not Canada) from internet sources. Choose a country that may interest you and complete the research related to starting a project in this country.  

As the Project Manager, you need to ensure legal/political, security, geography, infrastructure, economic and cultural environmental factors affect you working with this foreign country.  

Instructions:

  1. Choose 3 of the environmental factors in your chapter
  2. Research a country that interests you (not Canada) related to the 3 factors
  3. Write a paper on the 3 environmental factors and provide examples of possible obstacles/dangers you may encounter
  4. Discuss how you would attempt to ensure these obstacles/dangers are reduced or avoided.
  5. Use your textbook/other course materials and your research to support your paper.
