Question

The bedding provided to the patient should have padding to provide cushioning to reduce the risk of decubital ulcers (bed sores) (McDonald, 2017). It is recommended for the patient to have 1 inch of padding per 10 pounds of body weight. Any bedsores that are found should be treated immediately and aggressively. The patient should be kept in sternal recumbency as much as possible and should have their legs flipped regularly. If the patient can not be kept in sternal recumbency they should be rotated every 2 to 4 h.
