A new virus is infecting people's hearts. This virus is specific to the cardiac muscle and spreads through gap junctions. When it encounters cells without gap junctions, it forces those cells to express the proper proteins and form gap junctions to the next cell. As a result of the viral infection, gap junctions have formed between all cardiac muscle cells. You are among a group of scientists studying the effects on the heart when it is infected with this virus. You will be working on other aspects of this in class. Predict the effect of this viral infection on the path of electrical activity in the heart. (How will the path differ from normal electrical activity in the heart?)
