Question: In academic writing, we refer to us speaking with and to other authors as "creating a conversation." The idea behind this is that we, as writers, have something to offer an article, a topic, anything, and by writing essays we are contributing to what others are saying. One way to think of this is to imagine that you are observing two people talking about one topic - say their class schedule - and you would like to join them; you would do so by discussing your own schedule of classes and how it, too, affects your life. This is you joining the conversation.

Your assignment is this, on a document that you'll upload, write down one very important line from Diaz's essay, "Becoming A Writer" and one very important line from"Mother Tongue" by Amy Tan that you believe speaks on the SAME topic. The two lines that you use for this Assignment should be so similar in the context that you feel that these two authors could almost be speaking to each other. This will make navigation throughout both works. Be sure to use quotation marks for each author and use an in-text citation like so --> (example).
