Database Project Assignment Instructions

This is an individual course database project comprised of both written and applied database components. This project requires you to perform a systems analysis and then design a system solution using database software. The written components of the project must have the following separate components in it, each with a heading identifying the component. Please see the database project rubric for guidance on each of these components. Some of the Oracle APEX components of the project also have a written part to them. Please see the rubric for a more detailed description of expectations.

Using Database Software to Design a Customer System for TechU

TechU teaches technical courses and administers vendor certification tests, which are given as part of the classes the students teach. TechU does not believe it has enough information about its tests and processes to be able to identify where improvements can be made in the courses it offers. It cannot easily determine which students, courses, or instructors have high or low pass rates. Prepare an analysis report detailing TechU's problem and a database solution that can be implemented. Create an ERD based on your proposed solution, and use Oracle APEX to develop the solution.

Below are the deliverables required for this project. Submit 2 files, a Word document and a Visio or PowerPoint file.
Written Report (in Word) and ERD (in either Visio or Powerpoint)
Word document:

Define and address the problem
Describe the problem and its organizational and business impact. (Problem Description)
Proposed solution and solution objectives. (Proposed Solution and Objectives)
Identify and explain the tables, fields, and keys proposed in the solution. (Entities, Attributes, and Keys)
Provide a set of normalized tables in proper database notation
Create an Oracle Apex database that implements the proposed solution - paste screenshots into the Word document for the following:
Complete set of tables, populated with data, and provide two screenshots for each table created - one of the table structure, and one of the loaded data. Be sure to establish relationships between tables with appropriate primary/foreign keys, where needed. (Apex Tables)
Queries - Create and run the following SQL queries - provide a screenshot of the queries and the results. (Apex Queries)
List the student and test information, as well as and pass/fail information for each test taken. Sort by student last name, first name and test taken.
List the number of tests passed for each test
Form - provide a screenshot of the following form. (Apex Form)
Entry screen to enter student information
Report - provide a screenshot of the following report. (Apex Report)
Produce a report showing all tests taken, sorted by test taken and date taken
Visio or PowerPoint file

Provide an ER diagram that represents the entities in the proposed solution. Use correct format and symbols, similar to those produced in course assignments.
