1. Role play at least one afternoon to exploring the community of Dayton Ohio. Act as if you have spent some time on foot.  As you engage with this community, from the perspective of someone from an at-risk population, that is new to the area. Ex: LGBTQ or Homeless
2. If this community has public transportation, act as if you took 1 trip using public transit or figure the process of getting from one location to another using that system.
3. If this community does not have public transportation, try considering what unique barriers this presents to the residents of this community.
4. Act as if you have visited 2 distinctly different areas of this community (for instance, downtown versus West side) and document the observations.
5. Act as if you have shopped and/or ate somewhere you have never been to in this community.  Reflect on this experience.
6. Act as if you have Interviewed at least 3 residents, with different perspectives (for instance differing age, race/ethnicity, time lived in the community, etc). These interviews can be as formal or informal as you would like; however, you should ask two key questions: what do you like about this community, and what would you like to see change about this community?
7. See what other agencies exist in this community.  Pay attention to any potential gaps in services.
8. Provide an introduction to this community.  Include relevant information related to geographical boundaries, size, and demographics.  You can find most needed data on City-data.com, however, be sure to correctly reference that source.
9. Document what experiences and observations from engaging with this community. Provide clear evidence of firsthand knowledge - it should be evident that you spent meaningful time exploring this community.  What new insights did you gain and in what ways were you challenged?
10. Provide a summary and analysis of your resident interviews.
11. Identify this community's strengths, resources, and/or assets.
12. Based on all that you now know about this community, identify and describe the macro-level barriers, challenges, and presenting problems in this community.  Provide any data available to you regarding the scope and prevalence of these problems facing this community correctly reference your sources.
13.  What is the primary problem.  What are the at-risk populations in this community most impacted by this issue?
14. What is your innovative idea, and primary goal (Provided in SMART Goal Writing: SMART format) to address this problem?
