Question: The Children's Center is unique and the types of services. We provide the developmental Children's Center is an early childhood education laboratory school and an integral part of the instructional program of the early childhood education department here at DVC.
The purpose of the DVC Children's Center is to provide an enriched and supportive learning environment and Community for children, parents, and DVC students.
The infant program ranges in age from 5 months to 2 years.
The infant program follows each child's individual schedules. Their needs are met on demand we work closely with families to incorporate each child's daily routine and individual schedule into the school experience.
As children age and transition into the program specifically in our infant program. They begin to fall into routines around snack Play Time lunch and nap.
The toddler program age range is ages 2 years to 3 and half.
The Toddlers have more of a predictable sequence to their day. The environment is planned in an open manner for the children to have spontaneous and free choice experiences through a carefully designed classroom environment areas are set up with art science and math literacy music blocks dramatic play outdoor physical activity. All of the content areas are woven throughout the curriculum.
The preschool program is Age 3 years to 6 years for Children and Families. The environment is prepared in such a way that children may play and actively interact with people and materials and thus construct meaning and knowledge from their own viewpoints.
The program curriculum is based on the interest of the children and not a set curriculum. The curriculum is designed based on a process called watch ask to adapt. This process allows us to observe the children in the environment and what their interests are their capabilities based on their age and stage of development to ask questions critical intentional questions about what we see in the environment and how we can use that information to then adopt the environment based on the children's needs and their family's needs.
Our primary Goal of the program is to develop strong relationships between the teacher's children and the families of the program.
Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing space for the children to grow and develop.
We know that all children come to the School with a sense of wonder and openness to learning regardless of their age and stage of development children are curious and constantly interested in their environment and we know that they are most responsive to a hands-on experience and plan the curriculum with this in mind when interested in a topic no matter what age a child is children are self-motivated when they are interested in learning something that draws them in and inspires and promotes curiosity of our community.
