Yeast can have plasmids like bacteria and can grow on petridishes like bacteria E.Coli. pSP124S is a yeast plasmid that codes for a gene for DNA repair, and has another gene that codes for the protein lactase. Answer the following questions.

In the fermentation experiment, with the QUBIT setup, Glucose was metabolized faster than starch, and lactose was not utlised at all. Why?

If the plasmid above is added to the yeast, can it use lactose as the substrate? Why?

If the yeast with the above plasmid is grown with Kanamycin antibiotic, will it grow properly? Why?
