Purpose: Detailed marking criteria to be provided on Canvas as required. The purpose of this assignment is for students to gain a deeper understanding of the nature, impact and implications for companies which are facing global economy pressures in the industry using the theories, principles, and analytical methodologies in the international strategic management.
Description: Choose a business story from the current business press (e.g. Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Financial Review) that involves a firm or an industry responding to major global economy pressures.
Provide a comprehensive review of the issues involved in the story, and then analyse the strategic significance of the story to the firm and the industry in a global setting based on the conceptual perspectives introduced in the course. Formulate recommendations for the organization to move forward.
Suggested Structure

2. Table of Contents
3. Introduction. In this section, you are expected to provide a background of the firm or industry from your selected news article. You are also expected to outline the structure of the paper.
4. Business Story and Significance. In this section, you are expected to discuss the contents of the news article highlighting the key aspects of the business story and providing justification on how it is relevant to the learning outcomes of GMBA6009.
5. Major Issues. In this section, you are expected to highlight the major issues emanating from the news article.
6. Analysis. In this section, you are expected to provide a detailed analysis of the issues highlighted in Section 3. You are expected to explore relevant scholarly articles and demonstrate your ability to apply concepts, models, frameworks and theories in competitive dynamics and global strategy to the issues identified in Section 3. This is a key section of the report and you are required to critically analyse rather than describe. Refer to UoN Library resources for further guidance if unsure what this means.
7. Recommendation. In this section, you are expected to provide recommendations on how the company can address the issues identified and analysed in Sections 3 and 4. You are expected to show clear alignment between your recommendations and the rest of the paper.
8. Conclusion. In this section, you should restate the key issues, summarizes your arguments or analysis, and discusses the implications. The conclusion is intended to help the reader understand why your paper should matter to them after they have finished reading the paper. Do NOT bring in new information that have not been discussed throughout the paper.
9. References. Acknowledge all sources used by providing a list of reference. The referencing style is to be APA 7.
