The main competitor to my marketing plan would be the state-funded UT Health San Antonio Physician's Program, entrusted with distributing 300,000 doses (Be Prepared, 2022). However, they are very backed up, and the state is not providing enough funding for the demand. My competitor offers Narcan free of cost via mail, with a four to six-week lead time, to those they think would most likely be around to see someone overdosing (Be Prepared, 2022). After doing more research for this post, I decided I would charge $7 per Narcan dose and have them available at all locations, which is the cheapest and most affordable price anyone can find Narcan available for pick-up immediately. I came to this price point because I learned that the average retail price for Narcan, or Naloxone, is $120 with no insurance, but the American Red Cross is selling single units for $7.95 ea online (Here's Where You Can Get Free Narcan, n.d.). If the American Red Cross sells single units for $7.95, I can surely buy 500,000 units with a discount ranging from 35-50%.
