The prospect of minimization of emissions in automobile, manufacturing and other industries - Success and Failure Stories across the globe. Two Chief Technology Officers of renowned MNCs had a debate and a key excerpt is as follows: CTO of Mahindra & Mahindra: "The only way to substantially reduce emissions and carbon footprint for makers of heavy-duty vehicles like buses and trucks in the automobile industry and other firms in the manufacturing industry, before viable renewable energy options surface, is to adopt high quality biodiesel along with complete redesign of the automobile architecture". CTO of Polaroid Corporation: "What is the point in being complacent with a sub-optimal quasicarbon-neutral solution at a time when virtually complete carbon-neutral solutions are within our reach and few phenomenally carbon-negative solutions are on the horizon? Moreover, the socalled renewable energy options still depend on fossil fuels for the manufacturing, transportation and periodic maintenance of related equipment. In such a scenario, how can these options be called as renewable energy alternatives given their high dependence on fossil fuels?" What is your take on this? Indicate and vindicate your stand with due support from pertinent xizzler benchmarks, if any. Substantiate your argument with related concepts and relevant business stories of success and failure from the predecessor / contemporary firms.
