How would your respond to this statement?

When conducting interviews there should be a structure to the questions asked and the directions the interview goes. One of the pros of having a structured interview is each candiate is asked the same questions that are developed by the employer in regards to the job itself. Specific questions can be asked to get closed end answers. When there is a lot of applicants this can be used to narrow does the pool to prepare who will be selected for a second interview. The cons of structured interviews is you can get rehearsed answers or only gain limited information about the applicant and their abilities.

When an employer conducts an unstructed intervew more details of the applicant is obtained and probing can happen. Open ended answers are provided and the employer can get a better feel of the candiate and explore if they are a good fit for the company and position. Employers may chose to use this type of interview when conducting the second interview and the pool of applicants is not as large.
