Question: In Week 5 of this course, you will create a presentation in which you propose a budget for a criminal justice initiative or program of your choice. To complete this assignment successfully, you will participate in discussions and complete assignments each week to help you organize your research and ideas.

This week, you will conduct research and brainstorm ideas in preparation for the Week 5 summative assessment. Look ahead to the Week 5 Summative Assessment: Budget Proposal and Executive Summary to understand the requirements and guidelines. Consider also reviewing all Assessment Support resources prior to completing the assessment.

Select a criminal justice agency or organization you would like to use for the assessment. Brainstorm an initiative you would like to implement if you worked for this organization/agency (e.g., a new work program for the state prison, mental health training for police officers, a new police substation, a victim and witness rights program).

Determine the level of government the initiative is suitable for: city, county, state, or federal. Complete the Budget Proposal Presentation Outline. Note: You may revise and edit your ideas for the presentation as needed before completing the Week 5 summative assessment.
