Proponents of international finance and trade argue that multinational corporations (MNC's) provide developing countries with many benefits such as lower unemployment, foreign direct investment (FDI), technology transfer. However, others argue that many MNC's have gained substantial worldwide influence and are often involved in human rights violations (i.e. forced labor, low wages, poor working conditions, colluding with countries involved in crimes against minorities, etc...), environmental degradation, and negative impact(s) on domestic firms and businesses.

-Identify an article in a magazine, online or newspaper of an MNC recently involved in a human right violation or negative impact on the environment or on local businesses

-Provide a brief history of the MNC, the industry and countries in which it operates and a summary of the issue at hand

-Discuss whether MNC's should be regulated? What steps should be taken by governments and organizations to ensure ethical conduct of MNC's?
