Assessment - Effective project leadership
Your task
Individually, record a 10-minute video demonstrating effective project leadership within a selected scenario (case study available via MyKBS). Drawing on insights from Weeks 1 and 2, apply targeted leadership strategies to address the unique challenges presented in your case study. Develop a practical plan that responds to the leadership challenge and analyse aspects of the planning and execution phases where ethical issues may arise. Your response should comprehensively address both leadership effectiveness and ethical considerations relevant to the scenario.
Assessment Description
In this assessment, students will analyse the organisational factors that promote effective project management and the elements of the project management planning and execution phases that may lead to ethical compromises.
Assessment Instructions
The case study you can pick based on your industry preferences will be available by the end of week 2 via MyKBS's ‘Case study generator' button in the subject's assessments tab. Based on the contents of your chosen case study, you will need to focus on analysing the selected scenario and presenting a clear and effective leadership response. Furthermore, students must analyse aspects of the project management planning and execution phases that could present ethical challenges as they develop a practical plan to stabilise and support the scenario, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of potential ethical dilemmas or conflicts in project management.
Explain the scenario you've chosen. Highlight its main challenges and outline the specific leadership objectives you plan to address.
Present your leadership strategy: Discuss key approaches, such as adaptive, situational, or transformational leadership, as covered in Weeks 1 and 2.
Reflect on how these strategies can effectively help you navigate the unique demands of the scenario.
Outline a Practical Plan/Response: Provide a detailed plan focusing on the immediate steps you would take to stabilise and support your team.
Examine the potential for effective leadership to transform challenges into opportunities. As you advance from planning to executing your practical plan, assess how certain project decisions may lead to ethical dilemmas.
Utilise a slide deck to support the delivery of your video with visual aids to support key concepts and reference particular theories/research.
