Profit organizations in regards to pensions

The rules have to be stated so that the government just like any other entity is being honest about their pensions they have for their employees. If I was getting ready to retire or even down the road when I do retire, I want to know that the money is there to support me during the golden years.

Should the government be held to the same standards as for-profit organizations in regards to pensions? Why or why not?
