Bui is a Business Analyst (BA) who has been asked by her manager, Bharti to observe and report on how junior management is using a new accounting software package at a leading city accounting firm. As part of informed consent, company staff members weretold that they will remain anonymous as users in terms of internal data collection on the new package's performance. During her observations, Bui notices that many of thejunior management staff are making a particular data entry error when using the software. These errors are causing the accounting firm to lose significant currentrevenue that will longer-term impact profit levels significantly if not stopped. Bharti informs Bui that company policy dictates clearly that worker salaries will be docked forclear mistakes leading to the loss of company profit. Bharti instructs Bui to implement the policy immediately for all those concerned. Bui refuses to do what Bharti has askedher to do, claiming that it is unfair on the employees.
