The difference between productive behaviors and counterproductive are productive behaviors help with efficiency, and create a better work environment. These behaviors include effective communication, teamwork, reliability, and a positive attitude. Employees who are on time, meet deadlines, take initiative, and work well with others are productive. Counterproductive behaviors would be procrastination, poor attendance, and negative attitudes. Employees who are counterproductive may also spread gossip, resist change, or refuse to work as team with colleagues. While productive behaviors drive success, creativity and innovation, counterproductive behaviors can delay projects and leave staff feeling unmotivated. Encouraging productive behaviors while controlling counterproductive ones is important for an organization's health and growth. By promoting a culture of accountability and positivity, organizations can be sure that all members contribute to an efficient workplace.
