1. Golf Course Promotion.
The Piney Creek Golf Course's membership has consisted of 20 percent women players in the past. The golf course implemented a special promotion designed to attract more women golfers. One month after the promotion, the manager did a statistical study to determine if the proportion of women golfers increased. Of the 400 players in the sample, 90 are women. The research hypothesis is that the promotion increased the membership of women golfers (in percentage terms).

2. Carden's Carbonated Drink Company produces soft drinks in two litter containers that contain an average of at least 67.6 fluid ounces. Since both overfilling and underfilling the containers is unsafe the safety inspector wants to test the production process for safety violations. A sample of 36 soft drinks was selected resulting in an average of 68.3 fluid ounces. Suppose it is known from past test that the standard deviation is 3 fluid ounces. Using a significance level of 0.05 test whether the company's production process is safe or not.
