The report will use accepted academic frameworks, theoretical models and/or concepts to underpin its findings. To do this you should draw primarily on the readings from the modules, with additional resources a bonus. To be clear, we are expecting to see the learning resources from the modules being used well throughout the paper. You will use these resources to help you review your chosen workplace and the industry it operates in and to identify skills, experience, competencies and behaviours you can personally develop to enhance your employability and potential for advancement in the future.
Instructions: You are required to produce a professional, well-organised, clear and coherent, independent business research report, of 2,500 words that has an Executive Summary, Table of Contents, Introduction and Conclusion, along with four main sections:
1. Section 1: Include a brief description of your chosen workplace and the industry it operates in, as well as the organisational chart and your reporting line. Also include in section 1, some research and discussion on the organisational culture, its leadership and how people work together.
2. Section 2: Include a review of what the organisation is doing for induction, training, professional development and succession planning, for its employees.
3. Section 3: Include a summary of what the organisation is doing for you, how you see this applying to your professional development needs and how this is enabling your employability (either internal/external):
- Utilise (and reference using APA guidelines) accepted academic frameworks, theoretical models and concepts to underpin the report. Please include analysis tools using the Personal SWOT analysis, the Laureate Professional Competencies framework and your GallupReports.
- Use both primary (collected by you) and secondary (collected by others) data to inform your report. This might include speaking with key stakeholders in your industry/organisation as well as reviewing organisational reports and company collateral.
- The focus of your discussions may be both: a) personal (what skills, strengths and behaviours can you personally develop further), and b) industry (what general skills and behaviours are/will be needed in the industry in the future.
- The focus of your research should take into consideration key skills, experience, competencies and behaviours that will be needed in the future, within your specialism.
- Clearly identify the specific skills, experience, competencies and behaviours you can personally develop, to enhance your employability and potential for advancement in the future. These skills etc. should be clearly linked to your analysis/research and emerge from a Gap Analysis. The Gap analysis should be presented in a Table and discussed.
4. Section 4: Include a conclusion, based on your research, on whether you should stay with the organisation and look for development opportunities/promotions, or move on.
