c. Solve statistical problems using analytical methods manually and interpret the results. 

d. Demonstrate the ability to apply statistical tools and techniques to solve problems to improve business decision-making process.

Assignment Requirement -

You are required to produce an essay on "Use of Statistics."

There are three articles available on DB108 Moodle shell in the folder named "Articles for the Individual Assignment"

Select one of the articles.

Articles -

3. International mobility of Australian university students

Use Business Statistics theory, concepts, tools and terminologies you have learnt from weeks 1 to 4 and analyse the information available in the article to prepare an essay on "Use of Statistics."

Consider the following structure for you essay.

Paragraph 1: Provide an introduction for your essay.

Paragraph 2 onwards: The next few paragraphs should discuss the following points.

  • Data source/data types/ scales of measurements
  • Methods of data summarising, presenting and their importance to the article
  • Type of statistics: descriptive statistics/ statistical inferences
  • Measures of location/ measures of variations
  • Use of probability
  • Suggestions for further improvements.

Last paragraph: Provide a summary for your essay.
