Some athletes ingest anabolic steroids to increase their muscle mass. These drugs mimic testosterone in many but not all of their actions. Side effects of using anabolic steroids can include testicular atrophy (shrinkage in size of the testes) and decreased sperm production.

Explain why these drugs might produce these adverse side effects.
