Health Informatics:

Major changes, such as a physical move of the clinic present challenges for the health information systems manager, but they also present the opportunity for the overhaul of the HIT system. The management of the Pediatric Rehabilitation Services has decided to redesign the existing Wheelchair Clinic information System and implement it two months before the move to the new location. The new system should enable a smooth transition to the new location with minimum interruption of patient services.

Further requirements should also include the improvement of their clinical process, reduction of insurance refusals, shortening of wheelchair delivery time, and automation of monitoring of patient progress following the wheelchair delivery. Finally, the new health informatics solution should improve the productivity of the Wheelchair Clinic staff, improve the safety of patients, and improve ergonomics of data entry and data analysis operations.
