Parts arrive at an automated machining center at the rate of 100 per hour, based on a Poisson distribution. The machining center is able to process these parts at a fixed rate of 150 per hour. That is, each part will take exactly 60/150 = 0.4 minutes to process.

a. How many parts, on average, will be waiting to be processed? How many will be in the system (waiting and being processed)?

b. How long, on average, will a part have to wait before it is processed?
