An air traffic controller uses radar to determine the positions of incoming planes. The radar system emits radio waves of frequency 1030 MHz, which reflect from the airplane and return to the receiving dish at the airport. The system must be capable of resolving two aircraft that are separated by 1.00 mile at a distance of 20 miles from the airport.
