Throughout this lesson, you have been creating, reviewing, and adding to the worksheet you created in the Check Your Prior Knowledge Warm-Up Activity. This assessment asks you to put your checklist into words. You will provide an assessment of your strengths and areas that need work in the future to become the most effective leader of people and teams. Your goal is to become the leader that your employees think about when they are asked to think about the most effective leader they know.
Instructions: This assessment has three parts. You should respond to each section independently. Your response should completely address all parts of the question. Make sure and cite any references within each section.
Compose your response to the assignment in a word processing program. Run spell-check. Review your work to make sure that you completely answered all questions. 1. Leadership Strengths
Look at your worksheet and select three leadership strengths that you consider to be your greatest assets. Explain why you selected these particular strengths. Provide a brief definition for each of the strengths you selected. Be sure to describe how these three strengths enhance your effectiveness as a leader in your small business, workplace, or team.
2. Leadership Opportunities
Opportunities are reflective of areas you still need to develop to be the most effective leader you can be. All leaders have areas of opportunity. Select three areas where you will actively work to close the gap between ineffectiveness and effectiveness. Explain why you selected these three areas to improve and provide a brief description of the work you will be doing in each area. Also discuss how working in these areas will increase or enhance your effectiveness as a leader in your small business, workplace, or team.
3. Building an Effective Team
Write an essay that has an introduction, body and conclusion that describes how you intend to leverage your leadership abilities to build an effective team. This exercise can be focused on an existing team or be future focused on a team that you hope to build in small business or workplace. Be sure to link information from your textbook and supplemental reading to your answer.
