Throughout the course we have focused on work-related "social problems" in the U.S. (and some worldwide). Topics of inequality in the workplace, work-family dilemmas, and finding work in a constantly changing economy have been addressed primarily from a "what is happening here in the U.S." perspective. Some countries, however, have managed to navigate through economic globalization without overburdening workers and penalizing families. The U.S. falls behind most industrialized nations in the determinants of top places to live and work-what is it those other countries are doing? Thailand and Switzerland are currently expected to enjoy unusually low unemployment and inflation. What are they and other countries doing to support their workers and their families?

For this assignment, you will research and report on things happening outside the U.S. relative to many of these issues. Compare and contrast U.S. and global companies doing business around the world and their behaviors within differing geographic borders (and economic systems). In particular, what countries would you consider success stories in today's globalized economy? What are other countries doing to address work-family dilemmas and social inequalities related to race, class, and gender?
