The phenomenon of hunger today is known as food insecurity. Food insecurity was once viewed as a problem of overpopulation and inadequate food production, but now many people recognize it as a problem of poverty. Poverty is much more than an economic condition and exists for many reasons, including overpopulation, greed, unemployment, and the lack of productive resources such as land, tools, and credit.
